“No species of sin is more degrading to the intellectual and moral nature of man… They obscure the mind, they harden the heart, they pervert the affections. They unfit the mind for the exercises and the pleasures of [faith], and in their unhappy victim all the emotional part of our nature seems strangely converted into one depraved feeling of brutal selfishness.” – John Brown, The Discourses and Sayings of our Lord, 1.192.

What is scary about this is that once you go down that road to far, God lets you go! Romans chapter 1 talks about God giving people up to uncleaness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. Romans 1: 23-26
It’s very easy to sneak off on the internet and think that nobody knows, nobodies getting hurt. But the deepest and toughest sin there may be to repent from is the secret sexual sin. It also, as John Brown states, makes the victim unhappy. I would add down right depressed. Wrecks a relationship with God, spouse, family and the body of Christ! I would urge anybody having problem with this sin/addiction to talk to your Pastor or somebody that you can trust to help make you accountable and get started to letting Christ repair your heart and your other relationships. What happens in Las Vegas doesn’t stay in Las Vegas. God was in the room with you. The good news is that He will forgive and heal us! 1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
This becomes a lonely and depraving sin. It wrecks your soul. Takes over your mind. Find help! Your soul and your family may depend on it. James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
Right! Only by telling the truth to ourselves about sexual sin do we have the strength to defeat it.
the only hope for sinners is Christ the Lord, no matter what the sin. If we confess our sins, then He is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse. Do we believe that He is able to keep us from falling, even as He’s cleansed us from every fall? Does He love us indeed, and will He work in us by the gospel? if yes, then “according to your faith, be it unto you”. You will be strengthened, even though you and I may need this strength daily, as the tempter does not stop.
